Wall Pedestals

Wall-pedestal mounts offer a dramatic, three-dimensional alternative to traditional shoulder mounts. Featuring an extended and asymmetrical shoulder design, the mount projects from the wall to showcase more of the animal’s form and create greater visual depth.

Karoo Taxidermy’s wall pedestals are individually shaped to suit the species, the client’s preferred viewing angle and the available display space. Clients can select both the direction of the wall-pedestal body and the position of the animal’s head.

A wall-pedestal mount incorporates the animal’s head, neck and an extended portion of the shoulders. Unlike a conventional shoulder mount, its sweeping or offset body design creates a sculptural presentation that can be appreciated from several angles while remaining attached to the wall.

Two separate directional elements must be selected:

• Right Turn: The animal’s left shoulder is positioned against the wall.
• Left Turn: The animal’s right shoulder is positioned against the wall.

The head position is then selected independently:

• Looking Straight
• Looking ⅛ Right or Left
• Looking ¼ Right or Left
• Looking ½ Right or Left

The directions always refer to the animal’s own right or left, not the viewer’s perspective.

Wall pedestals may be finished with a clean, traditional backing or complemented by timber, upholstery, hide panels or other decorative details. Additional rockwork, vegetation, habitat scenery, custom wall structures and unusually complex designs are available as separately quoted Special Requests.

Because these mounts project farther from the wall than conventional shoulder mounts, clients should consider the available wall width, ceiling height, surrounding trophies and primary viewing direction when making their selection.
