European Mount

A European mount combines a professionally prepared skull with a purpose-designed shield, plaque or display support. The skull is carefully cleaned, degreased and whitened, while the horns, antlers, tusks and other natural features are protected and preserved.

At Karoo Taxidermy, European mounts can be presented on traditional hardwood shields, custom-shaped wall plaques, African-inspired shields, freestanding table bases or bespoke multi-skull displays. Each presentation is selected to complement the species, trophy-room décor and available display space.

How to Give Your European Mount Instructions

When confirming your instructions with your Karoo Taxidermy Client Liaison, please provide:

• Species: The animal whose skull is to be prepared.
• Display: Wall-mounted shield or plaque, table or floor stand, or a multi-skull composition.
• Shield or base: Preferred shape, timber and finish, where applicable.
• Orientation: Upright, angled or another requested presentation.
• Custom details: Carving, engraving, nameplates, spears, rockwork or other bespoke elements.
• Reference: You may send a screenshot or the name of an example from the gallery below.

If you require a cleaned and whitened skull without a shield, plaque or mounted display structure, please select Skull Bleach instead.
