Shoulder Mounts
A shoulder mount is a classic taxidermy presentation that displays the animal’s head, neck and shoulders. Each mount is individually sculpted to preserve the natural anatomy, character and distinguishing features of the trophy.
At Karoo Taxidermy, clients may choose a straight pose or a head direction of ⅛, ¼ or ½ to the left or right, depending on the species and the desired presentation.
How to Give Your Shoulder Mount Instructions
When confirming your instructions with your Karoo Taxidermy Client Liaison, please provide:
- Species: The animal to be mounted.
- Head direction: Looking Straight, ⅛ Left or Right, ¼ Left or Right, or ½ Left or Right.
- Special details: Any preferred expression, ear position or other request, where applicable.
- Reference: You may send a screenshot or the name of an example from the gallery below.
Left and right always refer to the direction in which the animal is looking, not the direction from which the viewer sees it.
Example instruction: “Burchell’s Zebra Shoulder Mount, looking ⅛ right.”
