Trophy Collection & Delivery

Once your hunt is complete, your trophies will be delivered to our studio in Graaff-Reinet. This is typically arranged by your Outfitter or Professional Hunter (PH) as part of your hunting contract.
If needed, Karoo Taxidermy also offers a nationwide collection service from various outfitters across South Africa. Simply contact us to schedule a collection.

Trophies Hunted Outside South Africa

If your trophies were hunted outside South Africa and you would like Karoo Taxidermy to handle the taxidermy, please inform both your PH and us as early as possible—ideally before your safari begins or immediately afterwards.
We’ll coordinate with your outfitter’s exporter and our trusted importer in Johannesburg to ensure smooth delivery to our studio. Once your outfitter has arranged the necessary export permits, we will require copies of those documents to apply for the corresponding South African import permits.Once all permits are in place, your trophies will be shipped to us.

Trophy Instructions & Order Confirmation

When your trophies arrive at our studio,  we meticulously tag every cape, skull, horn and part of the trophy we receive with a tag that corresponds with the clients order number.

The trophies are booked into our production system and we will issue a detailed quotation based on your requested mount types.

To confirm your order and begin production, we require:

1. All trophies to be received

2. Full mounting instructions (View our Mounting Options)

3. Your deposit payment

Only once all three elements are received do we begin the production process.

Current Turnaround Time

Due to high volumes in our production line, our current estimated turnaround time is 12 to 18 months from order confirmation.

This timeframe ensures the highest level of craftsmanship and attention to detail.

*Please note:

• Complex projects such as dioramas, custom designs, or large game (e.g., elephant, hippo) may take longer.

• Once your order is complete, you’ll receive photos of the final mount for approval.

After we receive your final payment, your mount is professionally crated and prepared for international or domestic shipping with the utmost care.
