Full Mounts
Full Mount Taxidermy
A full mount, also known as a full-body or life-size mount, preserves the complete form, movement and character of an animal. Each mount is individually sculpted and carefully positioned to create a lifelike, anatomically accurate display that reflects the unique features of the trophy.
At Karoo Taxidermy, clients can choose from various body poses, head directions and custom base options. Full mounts may be displayed on freestanding floor bases or flat display bases. Wall-mounted bases may also be suitable for certain small and medium-sized species.
How to Give Your Full Mount Instructions
When confirming your full mount instructions with your Karoo Taxidermy Client Liaison, please provide the following information:
- Body pose: Standing, walking, running, lying down or another preferred pose.
- Head direction: Looking Straight at 0°, or looking 45°, 90°, 135° or 180° to the left or right.
- Base type: Freestanding floor base, flat display base or, where suitable, a wall-mounted base.
- Base finish: A natural habitat setting, timber finish or another preferred custom finish.
- Additional details: Please provide any photographs, examples or special requests that will help us understand the appearance you would like to achieve.
Left and right always refer to the direction in which the animal is looking. Head angles are measured from the animal’s straight-ahead position relative to its body.
For example, a complete instruction may read: “Zebra full mount, standing pose, looking 45° right, on a freestanding floor base with a natural Karoo habitat finish.”
Your Client Liaison will review the requested pose and base with you and confirm whether the selected options are appropriate for the species, trophy condition and intended display area.
