Angora Goat (Capra aegagrus hircus)

South Africa is internationally renowned for producing some of the world’s finest mohair. The Angora goats of the Karoo are valued for their beautiful, lustrous fleeces, carefully developed bloodlines and contribution to the country’s world-leading mohair industry.

Although Angora goats are not hunting trophies, stud breeders take tremendous pride in their genetics and the exceptional animals produced through generations of selective breeding. Karoo Taxidermy is frequently entrusted with preserving distinguished breeding rams and other significant animals as lifelike full mounts—creating a lasting record of their quality, character and contribution to the breeder’s flock.

Product information

An Angora Goat full mount preserves far more than the animal’s appearance. For a breeder, it can commemorate an influential sire, an outstanding show animal or a ram whose genetics helped shape the future of an entire stud.

The Angora’s long, lustrous mohair, refined facial features and distinctive horn formation require specialised attention during the mounting process. Each animal is individually assessed and carefully recreated to preserve its natural proportions, expression, fleece character and unique physical qualities.

Full mounts can be presented standing on a handcrafted wooden platform or incorporated into a custom display. The stance, head position and final presentation can be tailored to reflect the animal’s character and the breeder’s preferred display setting.
