Golden Wildebeest
Go Back EnquireGolden Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus)
The Golden Wildebeest is a striking colour variant of the Blue Wildebeest, admired for its warm golden, copper and tawny coat in place of the species’ usual slate-grey colouring. Its powerful forequarters, sweeping horns, shaggy mane and distinctive vertical striping create an imposing and highly individual African trophy.
Karoo Taxidermy offers a variety of Golden Wildebeest presentations, including traditional shoulder mounts, sculptural wall pedestals, freestanding pedestal mounts, wall portraits and professionally tanned back skins. Its exceptional coat can also be incorporated into custom trophy-room displays and bespoke leather products.
Product information
Although dramatically different in colour, the Golden Wildebeest retains the characteristic form of the Blue Wildebeest: a broad muzzle, heavily built shoulders, curved horns, long facial hair and vertical striping along the neck and forequarters.
The colour of individual trophies may vary considerably. Some animals have pale golden or blond facial hair, while others display deeper copper, reddish-brown or bronze tones. These natural variations are carefully preserved during the tanning and mounting processes.
Available presentations may include:
- Traditional shoulder mounts
- Sculptural wall-pedestal mounts
- Freestanding pedestal mounts
- Wall portraits and Africa-shaped displays
- Tanned back skins with optional leather trim
