The Klipspringer is a small, highly specialised African antelope known for inhabiting rocky hillsides, koppies and mountainous terrain. Its name comes from the Afrikaans words meaning “rock jumper,” a fitting description of its remarkable ability to move confidently across steep and uneven rock surfaces.
Unlike most antelope, the Klipspringer walks on the tips of its uniquely shaped hooves, providing exceptional grip and balance on rocky terrain. Its compact build, coarse speckled coat and alert expression make it one of Africa’s most distinctive small antelope and a sought-after member of the Tiny Ten.
