Lechwe Taxidermy

The Lechwe is an elegant, water-adapted African antelope distinguished by its rich chestnut coat, contrasting white markings and long, sweeping, ringed horns. Its refined facial features and striking colouration make it a particularly graceful addition to an African trophy collection.

Native to the floodplains and wetlands of south-central Africa, the Lechwe is closely associated with shallow water, marshes and seasonally flooded grasslands. Its elongated hooves and powerful hindquarters are adapted to moving through soft, waterlogged terrain. Animal Diversity Web – Kobus leche

Wall pedestal mounts can be created in either a Right Turn or Left Turn, with the head positioned looking straight, ⅛, ¼ or ½ to either side. Floor pedestal and full-mount bases can also incorporate reeds, grasses and wetland-inspired habitat details to reflect the Lechwe’s natural environment.

A Trophy of the African Floodplains

The Lechwe’s rich colouring and sweeping horns create a mount with excellent height, movement and visual presence. Shoulder mounts present the animal’s refined facial detail and horn structure, while wall pedestals reveal more of the shoulder markings and create a stronger sense of movement.

Full and floor pedestal mounts provide the opportunity to tell a more complete story by incorporating the marsh grasses, floodplain vegetation and earthy tones associated with the species’ natural habitat.

Every Lechwe trophy is individually assessed before production so that the pose, mounting style and finishing details can be selected to suit the trophy and its intended display space.
