The Peacock, or male Indian Peafowl, is one of the world’s most recognisable ornamental birds. Its iridescent blue and green plumage, elegant crest and extraordinary train of eye-patterned feathers make it a spectacular subject for decorative taxidermy.

Karoo Taxidermy creates lifelike Peacock full mounts that preserve the bird’s vibrant colour, delicate feather structure and graceful form. Displays may feature the Peacock perched with its train cascading naturally downwards or presented in a dramatic full fan, depending on the condition of the plumage and the client’s preferred presentation.

Peacock taxidermy requires careful handling and detailed feather placement to recreate the bird’s distinctive shape and natural brilliance. Particular attention is given to the head and crest, iridescent neck feathers, patterned wing coverts and the long ornamental train.

Peacock mounts can be created in several presentation styles, including:

Because of the considerable length of an adult male’s train, the intended display position and available wall or floor space should be considered before the mount is designed.
