The Puku (Kobus vardonii) is a graceful, medium-sized African antelope recognised by its rich golden coat, pale underparts and alert expression. Mature males carry strongly ringed, lyre-shaped horns that rise prominently above the head, giving the species an elegant yet commanding appearance.

Closely associated with open grasslands and floodplains near permanent water, the Puku is primarily found in south-central Africa. Its warm colouring and refined features make it a distinctive addition to an African antelope collection.

A successful Puku shoulder mount requires careful attention to the animal’s facial structure, broad ears, natural coat colour and characteristic horn placement.
