Red Duiker & Common Duiker Full Mounted on a Custom Habitat Floor BaseThe Red Duiker, also known as the Natal Red Duiker, is a small, secretive forest antelope recognised by its rich reddish-brown coat, compact build and distinctive dark facial markings. Unlike the more widespread Common Duiker, the Red Duiker is strongly associated with dense woodland, coastal forest and thick vegetation in southeastern Africa.
Both males and females may carry short, straight horns, although those of the male are generally more developed. Its small stature, warm colouring and delicate features make the Red Duiker an especially attractive species for detailed taxidermy.
Red Duiker are particularly well suited to full mounts and natural habitat displays, where their characteristic forest-dwelling appearance can be recreated through carefully designed groundwork and vegetation. Shoulder and pedestal presentations can also showcase the fine facial features and rich coat colour of this diminutive African antelope.
