Red Hartebeest Taxidermy
Go Back EnquireThe Red Hartebeest (Alcelaphus buselaphus caama) is one of southern Africa’s most distinctive antelope species. Its elongated face, sharply angled horns, sloping back and rich reddish-brown coat give it an unmistakable appearance on the open plains.
Built for endurance, the Red Hartebeest is a powerful runner capable of maintaining speed across long distances. Its unusual proportions may appear slightly ungainly at first glance, but in motion the animal is remarkably swift, balanced and graceful.
The characteristic horn shape, long facial structure and contrasting dark markings require careful attention during the taxidermy process. At Karoo Taxidermy, every Red Hartebeest mount is individually shaped and finished to preserve these defining features while capturing the animal’s alert and resilient character.
Red Hartebeest trophies can be presented as traditional shoulder mounts, wall pedestals, sculptural wall portraits, European mounts or artistically carved skulls. The hide may also be transformed into a flat skin, back skin or distinctive handcrafted keepsake.
